Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant are one of Hollywood’s most notoriously private couples, but the artist has now offered a rare glimpse inside their seven-year relationship.
According to Grant, mutual respect is key for the pair, who have been romantically involved since 2019.
The 53-year-old artist has revealed how the two navigate their creative careers while living together, particularly when Reeves is immersed in one of his roles.
“I’ve lived with John Wick, I’ve lived with Neo,” Grant told People.
Reeves, 61, is best known for portraying the assassin John Wick and Neo in The Matrix films.
“When he’s in a character, for example, I have so much respect for that understanding that this is the middle to the end of a project, right? And I think the same goes for painting,” Grant said.
The artist explained that both she and the action star understand the importance of giving each other space while working on creative projects.

“He’s always so appreciative, so he’s always cautious, I think, with feedback, and I would say the same,” she said.
Grant added that while they can discuss ideas endlessly, they also recognise when the other person needs time alone to focus.
“The key to it is the mutual respect,” she said.
“Also, come on, it’s play, right? It’s play that we get to play creatively.”
Grant and Reeves first met more than a decade ago, working together on the books Ode to Happiness and Shadows before launching a publishing house together. Reeves was the writer behind the work and Grant did the illustrations.
The couple first made their relationship public in November 2019 when they made their red carpet debut at the LACMA Art + Film Gala.
Despite their high-profile jobs, both have largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight.
In 2023, Reeves gushed about sharing a moment of “bliss” with Grant while previously talking to People and called her “my honey”.
“We were in bed. We were connected,” he said.
“We were smiling and laughing and giggling. Feeling great. It was just really nice to be together.”
