Netflix Series Adds Shalom Brune-Franklin & Jimmy O. Yang

Shalom Brune-Franklin (Dune: Prophecy) and Jimmy O. Yang (Interior Chinatown) have landed roles in The Roman, Netflix‘s new Vegas drama series from creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien (BillionsSuper Pumped), which Oscar Isaac headlines and exec produces.

Brune-Franklin will play Jessica Christine “JC” Griffin. An alert and ambitious rising star at the casino, JC serves as a vital host and fixer, managing the whims of high rollers while harboring her own big plans for the future.

Yang plays Rich Tzu, a sophisticated, Eton-educated executive who serves as a rival to Isaac’s protagonist, Bobby.

The duo joins a cast that also includes the previously announced Betty Gilpin, Alec Baldwin and David Costabile.

The Roman is an hour-long drama set in the high-stakes, sharp-elbowed present-day Las Vegas casino business, which is a modernized but still dangerous version of the legendary city. At the center of which stands Robert “Bobby Red” Redman (Isaac), president of the hottest hotel casino in town, who has to make some long odds moves to try and secure his position and take more ground.

Koppelman and Levien also serve as showrunners and are exec producing alongside Isaac, Martin Scorsese and Sikelia Productions, Julie Yorn and Rick Yorn for Expanded Media, Paul Schiff and Beth Schacter. JC Chandor is also exec producing and directing the first two episodes, with Kerry Orent aboard as co-EP.

Brune-Franklin stars in HBO’s Dune: Prophecy, which is heading into its second season, and is also known for roles in The GirlfriendThe AssassinBaby Reindeer and other series. She is represented by Hamilton Hodell, Mosaic, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.

Yang is an actor and comedian coming off the release of his special Finally Home, taped during a sold-out arena run in his hometown of Hong Kong. He led the recent Hulu series Interior Chinatown, stars in Vera Miao’s horror drama Rock Springs, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, and has also recently been seen in Derek Cianfrance’s Roofman. He is repped by CAA, Artists First, and Schreck Rose Dapello.
