“I want to thank you for literally changing the game when it came to daytime television,” as she spoke of Clarkson’s love of music that she brings to the show.
“You have shared with us your voice, your gifts and everyone else’s, and your incredible band. I really want to thank you because it has made a big change in my life.”
Clarkson, who has won 10 Daytime Emmy Awards for hosting and producing The Kelly Clarkson Show, started to tear up as she gave Wilson a big hug.
“I’m fine!” Clarkson joked.
The Since U Been Gone singer announced in February that the current seventh season of The Kelly Clarkson Show would be its last.
She revealed she’s stepping back to spend more time with her two kids, River Rose 11, and Remington 10. The announcement came just months after the death of their father and her late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.
Blackstock had two older children, Seth and Savannah, from a previous marriage.
”I know everybody thinks, ‘Oh, she’s quitting,’ but I still have other jobs,” Clarkson told US Today that month.
“There’s just too much on the plate. So I was like, you know what, it’s time to kinda pull back.”
While the decision was a difficult one because of her “incredible” crew, Clarkson said it was an easy decision to make as a mum.
The Kelly Clarkson Show premiered in September 2019, and has earned 22 Daytime Emmy Awards.
The series is loved for its ‘Kellyoke’ segment where Clarkson performs cover songs, later including ‘Cameo-oke’ where musical guests performed at the start of the show.
