Award-winning recording artist Chris Brown and media executive Moe Rock were among the distinguished honorees recognized with honorary doctorate degrees from Harvest Christian University, a private Christian institution based in Dallas, Texas, during a recent commencement ceremony honoring leaders in entertainment, business, media, and community impact.
Brown, whose career spans more than two decades, was recognized for his extraordinary contributions to music, entertainment, and culture. Since emerging as a teenage sensation in the mid-2000s, Brown has become one of the most commercially successful R&B artists of his generation, earning Grammy Awards, dozens of platinum records, and billions in global music consumption and entertainment revenue throughout his career.
Known for hit records such as “Forever,” “Loyal,” “No Guidance,” and “Under the Influence,” Brown has remained one of the most recognizable figures in modern music, maintaining a loyal international fanbase while continuing to shape contemporary R&B and pop culture. University representatives acknowledged not only his longevity in entertainment, but also his impact as a creative force whose work has generated significant cultural and economic influence worldwide.
Among the additional honorees was Moe Rock, CEO of The Los Angeles Tribune, who has spent years helping redefine modern media through films, audiobooks, leadership programming, live events, publishing, and long-form storytelling initiatives.
Under Rock’s leadership, The Los Angeles Tribune has evolved into a multi-platform media company focused on empowerment-driven journalism and modern storytelling. In recent years, the company has received recognition for its growing influence in entertainment and media, including Grammy nominations tied to its publishing and audio productions.
Chris Brown and Moe Rock were among approximately a dozen honorees recognized as part of the university’s 2026 honorary class for their contributions to entertainment, media, business, and the arts.
The ceremony brought together entrepreneurs, creatives, public figures, and leaders from around the world whose work has made meaningful contributions across entertainment, business, media, and community leadership.
