Kyle and Jackie O fight: Fallout continues as three more staffers confirm redundancies

Three more staffers of the now-defunct Kyle and Jackie O Show have confirmed their departures in the wake of the show’s sudden ending.

Producers Alfie Laguzza, Eliza Brown and Dean Royston – who were nicknamed “Alfie The Gronk”, “Mouth” and “Hulk” by the radio duo – confirmed their exit via social media.

A spokesperson for ARN, the parent company of KIIS FM, later revealed their exits in a statement.

“ARN has been able to redeploy the majority of team members from The Kyle & Jackie O Show. Unfortunately, a small number of roles could not be accommodated elsewhere in the business, and those individuals will be leaving ARN,” a spokesperson from ARN said.

“Our focus is on ensuring everyone impacted is treated with care and respect and supported through this transition. We thank them for their contribution during their time at ARN.”

Brown had been with the company for around a year before exiting the show, which she branded “the greatest in the history of Australian radio”.

Taking to social media, she wrote alongside an image of the team: “This show meant so much to so many people. Working alongside Kyle & Jackie is and will go onto be, one of greatest privileges of my working life. My time was short but it was so sweet.

“The team of producers and those behind the scenes aren’t just the best in the business but some of the greatest people anyone would be lucky to know. It’s not every day you get to work on something you’ve listened to for 15+ years.

“Despite the short time frame, I just know, eight-year-old Eliza would have been so stoked, KJ made her dream come true. This was the dream job, always will be. Devastated but so grateful.

“Cheers to the greatest show in the history of Australian Radio.”

Laguzza’s sentiment was similar, writing: “KJ/KIIS Fam, thank you for everything it’s been an incredible journey. From starting as a street teamer to joining the greatest show ever, the Kyle and Jackie O Show, all within a few months, it’s honestly been surreal.

“The support, guidance, and belief everyone has shown in me has meant more than you know, and I’ll never forget the people who backed me from day one. Today was surprisingly my last day at KIIS, but this isn’t the end Bigger and better things coming soon 😉.”

The departures come as ARN reshapes the KIIS FM morning breakfast slot in the wake of Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson’s contract terminations earlier this year.

The slot is being covered by a variety of guest hosts in the meantime, including Mike Etheridge and Abbie Chatfield.

Longtime Kyle and Jackie O Show staffer Pete Deppeler, also known as Intern Pete, recently confirmed he was jumping ship to The Christian O’Connell Show on ARN’s Gold network.

The changes come amid Sandilands and Henderson’s respective legal battles against ARN.

The stars are both suing their former employer for wrongful termination.

Shock jock Sandilands is suing for $85 million over his $100 million contract, while Jackie filed an $82.25 million lawsuit against ARN.

ARN Media disputes Henderson and Sandilands’ claims and will defend against the suit in court. ARN is also counter-suing the duo.
