Spencer Pratt Plans To Leave L.A. If He Loses Mayoral Bid

As Spencer Pratt films his latest reality show about his bid for Los Angeles mayor, the stakes have never been higher.

The Hills alum recently said he plans to leave LA altogether if he loses the June 2 primary or the Nov. 3 election, but if he wins, Pratt “will rebuild” after losing his home in last year’s Palisades wildfire.

“I’m going to win the lawsuit against Gavin Newsom’s state park, and with that money, if I’m the mayor of Los Angeles, I will rebuild,” he told comedian Adam Carolla. “If Karen Bass gets reelected or Nithya [Raman] gets elected, I will be done with trying to live in LA.”

Pratt added, “I’ll take that money from the Newsom state park and the LADWP, and I’ll go somewhere that my kids will not have to see naked zombies, and I can have the last American dream somewhere. But I will not rebuild if these people are in charge, because what would I be putting money into?”

The Guy You Loved to Hate author, who launched his campaign in January, has recently been filming footage for a reality show about his run for the 44th mayor of Los Angeles, which is being produced by Santa Monica’s Boardwalk Pictures (AKA Charlie Sheen, Welcome to Wrexham).

Pratt’s campaign has recently come under fire for his tendency to over-emphasize certain key points—he doesn’t presently live in a trailer on the husk of his old house, but rather the Hotel Bel-Air. “I don’t have a house. They burned it down,” he declared when asked where he’s currently living.

Much of Pratt’s campaign has focused on the devastating fires in the Palisades last year and has attacked the response of Mayor Karen Bass.

Meanwhile, Pratt is coming off a well-attended fundraiser hosted by David Foster and Katharine McPhee last week, as well as an attention-getting performance in his recent debate, with latest polls showing him neck-and-neck with Raman for a spot alongside primary frontrunner Bass on the November ballot.
