Kylie Minogue reveals who was the love of her life

Kylie Minogue believes the late Michael Hutchence was the love of her life.

Kylie Minogue has revealed the love of her life

The 57-year-old singer has dated the likes of Jason Donovan, Olivier Martinez, Andres Velencoso, Joshua Sasse, and Paul Solomons but none of their relationships had as much of an impact on her as her two-year romance with the INXS frontman, who took his own life in 1997, six years after they split.

Asked if Michael was the love of her life, she told the Sunday Times Style magazine: “Yes, probably. I’ve had lots of relationships, some were love, some were not. My relationship with him, or our relationship at the time, was not for that long, but it had a profound effect on me.”

Kylie and Jason dated after playing teenage lovers Charlene Mitchell and Scott Robinson in Neighbours and they are still good friends, with the Too Many Broken Hearts hitmaker having a key role in her upcoming Netflix documentary series Kylie.

She said: “Yeah, yeah, we are [good friends]. I’ve texted him some doozies while I was looking through all the old photos and video footage of us together. I told him he better start collecting things for his doc.”

The Padam Padam singer admitted she and Jason had “fancied” one another for some time while working on Neighbours before their friendship turned romantic.

She said: “We fancied each other. The love story in the show came first and then it became a real thing.”

Of watching her documentary with her family, she added: “It was so emotional, watching it with them.

“When the Neighbours clip of Scott and Charlene kissing came up, my nephew turned round to me and said, ‘Oh, that was quite the kiss!’”

The documentary saw Kylie in tears as she discussed Michael and his impact on her life.

She said of the moment: ‘You could hear a pin drop. I’m like, I know I’m going to cry at some point in this goddamn documentary. When’s the point going to be? But I also knew that I was holding on to a lot of stuff.”

Kylie is currently single and not looking for love because she is happy on her own.

She said: “I don’t have a boyfriend. I was in a relationship and when that ended I realised I was OK on my own. I’m definitely getting pickier.”

Asked who she won’t date, she added: “Narcissists. I’ve dated one, and I’m very grateful I now have that knowledge. That’s like my red hot ‘no’.”
