‘The Napa Boys’ Heads to Cannes Film Market With Mise-En-Scène Company

London-based sales outfit The Mise-En-Scène Company is launching international rights to “The Napa Boys,” an ensemble comedy, at the Cannes Film Market, with the acquisition struck through Sunset Rose Pictures, the production banner of producer Mike Rosenstein.

Co-written by and starring Armen Weitzman (“Veep”) and Nick Corirossi (“What We Do in the Shadows”) – Corirossi also directs – the film follows a group of friends led through wine country by a mysterious figure known only as “The Sommelier.” The sprawling cast includes Sarah Ramos (“The Bear”), Mike Mitchell (“Twisted Metal”), Chloe Cherry (“Euphoria”), Vanessa Chester (“Jurassic Park”), Paul Rust (“Love”), Jamar Neighbors (“Keanu”), Ivy Wolk (“Anora”), David Wain (“Wet Hot American Summer”), Ray Wise (“Twin Peaks”), Riki Lindhome (“Knives Out”), Natasha Leggero (“Another Period”), Beth Dover (“Orange Is the New Black”), Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes (“Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back”), and DJ Qualls (“Road Trip”). Jerrod Carmichael serves as executive producer.

“‘The Napa Boys’ is a relentlessly funny and a brilliant postmodern comedy. This is the kind of vibrant, inspired, and uncompromising filmmaking we love to see. We’re incredibly excited to help share this film with the world and honoured to be working with such a talented group,” said Paul Yates, CEO of The Mise-En-Scène Company.

The film had its world premiere in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto Film Festival

“We are excited for fans around the world to experience the universal language of laughter while watching ‘The Napa Boys,’” said Rosenstein.

The film opened in U.S. theaters in February and came to digital and on-demand platforms on April 20. A Blu-ray and DVD release follows on May 19.

Rosenstein at Sunset Rose represented the filmmakers in the deal, with Yates and Rory MacDonald negotiating for The Mise-En-Scène Company, which is also handling worldwide sales of the Al Pacino starrer “Billy Knight,” featuring Charlie Heaton and Patrick Schwarzenegger.

Sunset Rose Pictures, founded by Rosenstein after a decade at Ben Stiller’s Red Hour, has built a slate spanning A24, Netflix, HBO, Adult Swim, FX, Comedy Central, and Vice. The company oversaw the 2024 Emmy-winning season of “The Eric Andre Show” for Adult Swim, and its 2020 SXSW title “Have a Good Trip: Adventures in Psychedelics” reached No. 1 worldwide on Netflix upon release.
