Rihanna and A$AP Rocky celebrated their oldest son RZA’s fourth birthday with a fun family outing in New York City this week.
The couple was spotted at the Sloomoo Institute, an interactive slime experience in Manhattan, where they spent time with RZA and some close family members as the birthday boy marked another year around the sun.
Photos from the outing showed Rihanna’s mother, Monica Braithwaite, holding hands with RZA as they left the venue together. The birthday boy wore colorful cartoon-print pants, a tie-dye sweatshirt, and sneakers while carrying a toy in one hand and a pacifier in his mouth. Another photo showed a family friend carrying Riot Rose Mayers, while Rocky carried baby Rocki in her car seat.
RZA Athelston Mayers was born on May 13, 2022. His name is a tribute to RZA, the legendary founder of the Wu-Tang Clan. Although Rihanna and Rocky kept his name private for nearly a year after his birth, Rocky revealed it publicly while celebrating his son’s first birthday in 2023.
“‘WU TANG IZ 4 DA CHUREN’ HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO MY 1st BORN . RZA,” Rocky wrote at the time.
Over the years, both Rihanna and Rocky have occasionally shared small glimpses into RZA’s personality while keeping much of their family life relatively private.
During a January 2026 appearance on The New York Times’ Popcast, Rocky opened up about the differences between his children and described RZA as more reserved than his younger siblings.
“You know, my first son, RZA, he’s just really like, he’s [the] opposite of his brother, the 3-year-old and the 2-year-old,” Rocky shared. “They’re about 14 months apart. So, they’re really close, but he’s really antisocial.”
The rapper also revealed that RZA has never been interested in sweets.
“My first son never ate candy a day in his life and hates it,” he said.
Rihanna also spoke about her oldest son during her 2025 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, where she shared details about both RZA and his younger brother Riot as their personalities continued to grow.
“RZA is just an empath,” Rihanna said. “He’s so magical. He loves music. He loves melody. He loves books. He loves water. Bath time, swimming, pool, beach, anything.”
She added that Riot brings a completely different kind of energy to their home.
“Riot, he’s just hilarious. When he wakes up, he starts to squeal, scream. Not in a crying way. He just wants to sing,” Rihanna explained. “He’s my alarm in the morning!”
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky share three children: sons RZA, 4, and Riot, 2, and daughter Rocki Irish, 8 months.
