BEYONCÉ SAYS ATTENDING THE MET GALA WITH BLUE IVY FELT “SURREAL”

Beyoncé returned to the Met Gala on Monday for the first time in a decade, and she made it a family affair.

The superstar attended fashion’s biggest night alongside her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, and husband Jay-Z.

During a red carpet interview with La La Anthony, Beyoncé opened up about sharing the experience with her 14-year-old daughter.

“It feels surreal because my daughter’s here. She looks so beautiful,” Beyoncé said. “This is incredible to be able to share it with her.”

The singer also reacted to the way Blue handled attention from photographers throughout the evening.

“She was ready. She is ready,” Beyoncé said.

The Grammy winner also shared that she was most excited about seeing the event through her daughter’s perspective.

“I think it’s really just experiencing this through the eyes of Blue and being able to relax,” she said.

This year’s Met Gala dress code, “Fashion Is Art,” connected to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s upcoming “Costume Art” exhibition. Curator Andrew Bolton previously said the exhibit explores “the centrality of the dressed body in the museum’s vast collection.”

Keeping to the theme, Beyoncé wore a custom design inspired by skeletal art with matching headpiece, and a feathered cape that trailed behind her as she walked the carpet.

“For me, I’m wearing Olivier Rousteing. So good. Someone that’s been so loyal to me and I’ve done so many incredible iconic looks with him,” Beyoncé said. “So it’s really about representing him.”

Jay-Z, meanwhile, kept things simple in a classic black tuxedo, while Blue made her Met Gala debut in a white Balenciaga gown with a dramatic train and full skirt. She finished the look with an oversized jacket worn off her shoulders and black oval sunglasses that stayed on through most of the carpet despite photographers repeatedly calling for her to remove them.

Blue eventually took the sunglasses off once she reached the top of the Met steps.
