‘Apex’ Sees Increase In Viewership Numbers In Second Week Of Release

The survival thriller Apex starring Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton remained the number one film in the Netflix Top Ten for the second straight week with 40.2 million views. This marked an increase from the film’s first week in release where it took in 38.2 million views and was number one in 82 countries.

Directed by Baltasar Kormákur and produced by Chernin Entertainment, the film follows a mountain climber who retreats to the Australian wilderness for isolation. Her journey turns into a desperate hunt when a deceptive local targets her as his next ritualistic prey in the bush.

Not to be outdone, the viral song from the Chemical Brothers (feat. Q-Tip’s) Go has been climbing on Spotify Viral50 chart and it’s the #1 song on Shazam. The song appears in the film to Egerton’s character dancing to it, which has also caused its own TikTok moment.

The new Netflix and Skydance Animation film Swapped, starring Michael B. Jordan and Juno Temple came in second on the film chart with 15.5 million views. Netflix animated pics usually have legs throughout their release with last year’s smash hit KPop: Demon Hunters only bringing in 9.2 million viewers in its first week before breaking Netflix records in the weeks to come.
