Twenty years ago, Adrian Grenier was a Hollywood leading man – but now the former actor is much more at home on the farm.
While most of his co-stars in 2006’s beloved The Devil Wears Prada have been back in a big way recently thanks to the film’s sequel release, Grenier has not joined them.
He played Anne Hathaway‘s controversial love interest Nate in the original film, just one of his notable roles during a stellar 2000s acting career.
He is best known for starring as Vincent Chase in the Emmy-nominated series Entourage and its 2015 movie.
But in the past decade, Grenier’s acting credits have dwindled – and that’s very much on purpose.
In 2016, he bought a campervan and drove 2000 kilometres from Los Angeles to Texas, where he bought a plot of land on the outskirts of Austin.
Four years later, he and his wife, Jordan Roemmele, moved to a ranch where they now live with their two sons, aged Seiko, two, and Evren, one.

Grenier is a long-time environmentalist and often shares a look at ranch life on social media.
It’s no surprise Texas life is very different from Hollywood, and the actor calls it “a breath of fresh air”.
“There’s not a lot of social climbing, not a lot of status people. Everyone’s cowboy boots and a cowboy hat, so to speak,” he told People in 2023.
“A lot of times in cities, I’ve always felt a little bit like I have to keep up with the Joneses. And here, it feels there’s a lot of acceptance and, especially where I live, a lot of my friends are farmers and homesteaders and just really open-hearted and not afraid to put in a hard day’s work. Salt of the earth and very loving.”
Although he spends most of his time away from cameras, Grenier has not given up acting completely.
He’s just a lot more selective.
”I really only take [on] roles that reflect my values or that speak to me in some way,” he told Page Six in March.
“I’m in a position, luckily, where I don’t have to just take whatever I can get.”
One of those roles brought him to Australia in 2024, as he starred in rom-com You, Always, streaming on Netflix.
Unfortunately, he was not given the chance to reprise his role as Nate for The Devil Wears Prada 2 – which he would’ve said yes to, for the record.
”We’re all fans of the movie, whether or not we were in it,” Grenier said.
“Obviously, it was a disappointment that I didn’t get the call to be in the sequel. But I also understand there was some backlash with Nate, the character, so that might have something to do with it.”
While many fans deemed Nate the “real villain” of the film for not supporting Andy (Hathaway) as she deals with her demanding job as assistant to demanding fashion editor Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), Grenier looks at him more fondly.
“It leaves room for a beautiful spin-off in which Nate has his own film,” he joked to Page Six.
We’re not sure about that, but either way, Grenier has found a good balance in Texan life.
“When I wake up here, I don’t have anywhere to go,” he told People.
“I’m here already. I already have a place in the world, so I have a much more easy morning to just be alive, take the dogs out, have coffee with my wife.
“It’s just stress-free, really.”
