đź‘´ Bundesliga legend becomes oldest ever Europa League player

When Dante’s professional career began in 2002, the first iPhone was far from being invented and the Europa League was still called the UEFA Cup.

23 years and 17 iPhone generations later, that very Dante is still on the field. After many years in the Bundesliga, where the Brazilian won numerous titles in Munich and Wolfsburg, he moved to OGC Nice in France in 2016.

There, the tireless center-back is still kicking today – and he set an ancient record in the Europa League match against AS Roma! At 41 years and 341 days, Dante became the oldest outfield player in the history of the competition.

The oldest player of all time remains the English goalkeeper Brad Friedel, who played for Tottenham against Sheriff Tiraspol on November 7, 2013, at the age of 42 years and 173 days.

But let’s be honest: Chasing opposing strikers in the center of defense is definitely more exhausting than standing between the posts…
